Tote Bag of the Month – May 2010

May 5th, 2010

Each month Tote Talk will post a favorite bag choice and some background information about it.  This month’s bag is from Tote-a-lly Awesome.

“As Santa Monica High School SAGE students (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship), we noticed that the U.S. alone goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually, and pathetically recycles less than 5%. We took initiative in creating our student-run social venture, Tote-a-lly Awesome. Tote-a-lly began promoting sustainable solutions by selling trendy, eco-friendly, student designed tote bags made of 100% recycled plastic bottles and have expanded our line to other green accessories. We donate 60% of our profits to organizations close to our heart: Heal the Bay and our very own SAGE team.

This is our community bag, designed by Santa Monica SAGE member Ralph Peacor in 2009.”

Tote Bag of the Month – April 2010

April 7th, 2010

Each month Tote Talk will post a favorite bag choice and some background information about it.  This month’s bag is from Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op.

This Medium Grocery bag is made from a cotton/flax blend material. Flax cotton originated from flax plants which are woven into fibers. Flax plants have been cultivated for thousands of years for the production of linen. Unfortunately, we are looking for a new source of this material. The simplicity of the design is what makes this bag a winner! Watermelon anyone?

Account Rep for this bag: Marcia

Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op formed in the mid-1970’s as a buying club for homesteaders.  The original club carried supplies like fruit trees, canning jars and bulk foods.  As demand grew, the club evolved into a cooperatively owned retail store.  After 34 years of growth, Ukiah Natural Foods Co-op still holds true to its original intention of providing quality, staple foods at the best possible prices.  The cooperative is now backed by over 7,000 member-owners from our community- you’re invited to join them and become a partner in this locally-owned, value-driven business.

Berkeley Public Library Authors’ Dinner

February 18th, 2010

Hi Marcia,

Thought you might be interested in seeing your tote bags highlighted with its own picture in the San Francisco Chronicle, Miss Bigelow column.  The event was a huge success and the bags much appreciated, especially because they were made out of soda bottles!  How’s the weather in NH?  It’s just started to really snow here in Boston.  Thanks again.

Best,

We asked ET “What do you LOVE about your reusable tote bags”?

February 11th, 2010

In honor of Valentine’s Day we asked our staff what they love about their own tote bags.  Here are some features that the people behind the bags love about their reusable canvas totes:

I love when I bring my canvas bags to the grocery store because I feel good about reusing them.  I can carry my groceries inside with 1 trip. I don’t feel clumsy carrying them and the bags actually feel lighter.  Did you know a 6-pack of beer fits perfectly in a Mid Tote?

I love my canvas bags that have a connection to my life.  My Enviro-Tote bag shows where I work and starts conversations where ever I go… People are always looking for a connection with others.  I love to sell a quality reuseable bag that is made in the USA.  How could it be possible that anyone would consider any other bag?

~Sarah

I love that my tote bags will keep me and my family organized.  Between the different colors that I have, and the various  fun prints on the bags, we know what’s stored in each bag.  We just have to grab and go to town!

~Nancy

I love my Enviro-Tote bags because of the high quality fabrics that are used and that they are Made in the USA.  I feel like every bag contributes to making our economy better.

~Marcia

I love my tote bags because I can use them for so many different things.  For my son to pack his clothes for daycare, to pack my stuff for the gym, for the beach, to bring with me when I travel and they are strong enough to hold all the books I bring home from the library.

~Lenka

By using my Enviro-Tote bags I am helping the environment- and that’s a good feeling.  I love how I can help the planet just by carrying my stylish totes and saying “No thanks” to paper and plastic when shopping.  I love all the color choices and there is a tote bag size for every occasion.  Good thing they are American quality strong, because I stuff my bags to the top.  I also love to travel with the bags that have a zipper.

~Stacy

I love using my Enviro-Tote grocery bags because of the weight they can handle.  Fewer bags, Fewer trips into the house.

~Amber

I LOVE my Enviro-Tote bags So Much because they make everyone else jealous. J
